PDF is a template that is used to store files in a way that preserves the original formatting such as the fonts, breaks and paragraphs in the original format they were created by the author. It is thus a very useful way to share documents and files. PDF is a very popular product created by Adobe. Docx is a document format that was originally introduced by MS Office 2007.

Adobe and Microsoft have always worked together to make extensions that are compatible with each other. So there are a number of simple options to use to convert Docx files into PDF. Once installed it adds a new menu with an option to save as a PDF file. This option however offers limited formatting options.

A free option to help with docx to PDF conversion is with the use of free utility tools called PDF printers. These are free tools that could easily be downloaded online and installed. Examples include PDF995 and CutePDF Writer. Once installed these applications act as an additional printer. The printer can be used to print documents including those in Docx format into the PDF format. The printed material is however stored on the desktop or MY Documents folder as a PDF file.

The Adobe Writer also comes in handy when seeking to convert docx files into PDF. OpenOffice is also another option open to users of Windows. Mac users can easily convert docx to pdf from their file Menu.
